Vintiques of Yakima

.......since 1974

oneillmickMick (Michael) Sean O'Neill, 68, died in his home in Yakima on January 15, 2014 after a 25-year-long battle with cancer.

Mick did not lose the battle. He fought tirelessly against countless complications, especially during an immensely difficult, five-year-long period at the end of his life. He showed the people around him what it means to never lose hope. He also showed them how to accept an unfortunate situation and make the most out of the time one has left in this world. Despite the problems, he never complained. "It is what it is," he would say. Mick was born on July 18, 1945 in Ellensburg.

Lon told his family he never thought he would live through Korea and when he did he wanted to make every moment count. Life was precious and needed to be filled with love and joy. And that is how he lived his life. He never met a stranger and always told the people in his life, new and old, “I’m glad you got to see me.” He loved to tell stories and had his Lon-isms. He was a good man. Lon did have a love of vintage cars and was a member of the Vintiques club for many years.

Alonzo is survived by his wife of 63 years, Addie Mae, children, Judy Durey, Kathy Grubenhoff and husband Dennis, Betty Hill Taylor and husband Randy, dear friend Tony Pena and wife Darleen, eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, sister Betty Ruth Garrison, and brothers Morris and James Durey.
